Two 13-year-old girls have been charged with assault with a weapon after another 13-year-old girl was stabbed numerous times in a plaza parking lot in Vaughan over the weekend.

York Regional Police say they had received a call for a large gathering of teens causing a disturbance at a fast-food restaurant on Rutherford Road east of Highway 400 around 8 p.m. on Saturday.

A few minutes later, a fight broke out in the parking lot and responding officers found a 13-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Two suspects, one from Vaughan and one from Richmond Hill, were located and taken into custody.
A knife was also recovered at the scene.
The victim was transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition
